INVISALIGN FAQs
What is the difference between Invisalign and metal braces?
The invisalign system is more comfortable, hygeinic, user-friendly and quicker than traditional metal braces. Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible in the mouth and hence more socially acceptable. With the Invisalign system it is possible to predict what your teeth would look like and how long the treatment would take even before treatment starts!
How much does invisalign cost?
This again depends on how complicated your teeth are. The cost is not dependent on the number of aligners you need or how long your treatment would take. It depends more on if just one or both of your jaws need treatment. It also depends on whether just the front teeth only or both front and back teeth need straightening. In the U.K. you would expect to spend about £300 on your clin-check and between £1500 and £3500 on the main course of treatment. Your dentist would be able to give you more detailed information on the cost.
How long will my invisalign treatment take?
This depends on how complicated your teeth are. Simpler cases could need as few as 9 aligners (18 weeks) or as many as 30 aligners (60 weeks). It also depends on you being consistent with the treatment plan.
Is invisalign right for me?
Almost everyone is a suitable candidate for Invisalign treatment. There are a few very severe cases of mal-aligned teeth that may need other intervention before the teeth can be straightened. It is crucial that there is no advancing gum disease with failing dentition before Invisalign treatment is embarked upon. Both Invisalign and metal braces can make moderate or severe gum disease worse. Dr Wale Towolawi would advise you further during your free Invisalign consulatation about this. Invisalign treatment is suitable from teenage upwards. Age is not a mitigating factor against Invisalign treatment.
Is invisalign available on the NHS?
Not at this point in time.
When can I start my invisalign treatment?
After an initial assessment by Dr Wale Towolawi, you would need to have your dental x-rays, photographs and dental impressions taken to generate a clin-check. This would show us what your teeth would look like after treatment and how long it would take. Once you are happy with this clin-check it will be sent back to Align tech. We would then simply await your aligners which should arrive in less than 2 weeks. Once they arrive at the Dental Suite your treatment will commence straight away.
Does invisalign hurt ?
Not at all! When you initially have your 1st aligners fitted they feel quite tight especially on the teeth we desire to move. Invisalign is a completely pain-free treatment system with minimum inconvenience.
Who will carry out my treatment?
Your Invisalign treatment will be carried out by Dr Wale Towolawi, our Invisalign -certified dentist. He will review you every 8 weeks during the course of your treatment or any time in-between if you need to see him. He is also contactable by telephone, e-mail , skype or SMS.
Can Invisalign treat goofy teeth or gappy teeth?
Yes.These are some of the commonest conditions treated with the Invisalign system.
